about

We wanted to celebrate this spring with some fun songs we’ve been working on.
Our new song, “Pound of Flesh”, captures the essence of Shylock in Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice and pays due to the taxes we all have to pay in life. The festering weight of amounts of owed, financially or otherwise. To be put back into someone’s good grace is a task that we are all constantly mounting.

We’ve done takes on “Movin’ Out” by Billy Joel, “1922 Blues” by Charlie Parr, and “Sad & Lonely” by Mike Munson, all songs that involve paying a fee, whether to the government or to a forlorn lover.

Hope you enjoy the tunes!

Track Name: 1922 Blues [Charlie Parr]
Well I worked all summer couldn't save a cent
I gave all my money to the government
I don't know quite how it got spent
but the banks are coming for my deed though
Man at the mill can't see though
Let me get my feed for free though
Ain't that the way it is

I cut out down a gravel road
I traded my stock for a V8 Ford
Danced for town down on the floor boards
And the title owed down to me though
That gasoline ain't free through
Just guzzling out of my knee boys
Ain't that the way it is

Well i met me a woman down in saint paul
with a little money and a little pole
Bloke told me that he'd bust my jaw
If I talked to his sister again though
Don't mean I couldn't win though
There's blood running down my chin now
Ain't that the way it is

Well I slept all night on the bar room floor
and woke up this morning my head was sore
Pockets empty but I want some more
Now The bar man's got my car though
Tales worth more by far though
I leave her down at the bar now
Ain't that the way it is

Well I hitched me a ride on the way back home
I got me a job on a family farm
Times are hard here but I can't roam
and I ain't got nothing more boys
Oh that company store tho
Gold's looking good for sure though
Ain't that the way it is

Well I worked all summer couldn't save a cent
I gave all my money to the government
I don't know quite how it got spent
but the banks are coming for my deed though
Man at the mill can't see though
Let me get my feed for free though
Ain't that the way it is

I’m Sad
You’re Lonely
I’m Sad
And You’re Lonely

It’s Time
You Grow Up
It’s Time
You Grow Up

Sometimes
I feel like crying
Sometimes I
I feel like crying
But I know
it’s not my time for dying

I’m Sad
And You’re Lonely
